Payroll Officer Job Description

A payroll officer or administrator is the person responsible for the calculation, distribution, and management of payroll to every employee working for the organization. The person will be accountable for proper processing and timely payment of the designated salary to every person working for the firm.

Job responsibilities

Administering the entire process of issue and clearance of payrolls for employees on a regular basis as specified.
Maintenance and supervision of the payroll system and record of leaves applied and received.
Accountability of updation of every record pertaining to salaries and contracts.
Dealing efficiently and redressing any issue that may come up in regard to payroll planning and leave allowances etc.
Calculation and timely payment of termination payments.
Providing assistance to the HR team in chalking out the month-end consolidation.
Maintaining the increments and interpreting agreements or contracts in relation to overtime allowances, leaves, and other records.
Schedule payments to employees’ bank account or paychecks directly.
Proper maintenance of payroll statements and receiving receipts.
Proper checking and regular updation of the employee database including all the payment details.
Ensuring the payment of tax withholdings for every employee.

Job requirements

A minimum of 2 years of work experience as a payroll officer or in any related role in the same domain.
A bachelor’s or an associate degree in finance and accounting.
Proven experience with payroll management software and the latest technology to be employed in the process.
Good communication skills to bridge the gap between employees and the HR department.
Skilled to handle the confidentiality of the information and database.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
